Quality 2 – Through Cut (Similar finish to laser)
'Through cut' focuses on minimising striations with a high speed of waterjet cuts. This strikes a balance between speed and finish quality. Quality 2 offers a gentler finish than Quality 1, with visible striations. This works for applications requiring moderate precision, such as industrial parts or prototypes.
Quality 3 – Average
This is the standard waterjet cut. It’s a dependable, all around edge quality. With light striations, this is suitable for most machining applications.
Quality 4 – Very Good
This quality leaves minimal striation, leaving you with a high quality finish. This finish is great for parts requiring a professional finish, like decorative or high visibility components.
Quality 5 – Best of the Best (Satin Finish)
There are no striations with this finish. It leaves a completely smooth, flawless finish! Projects that need highest levels of accuracy and aesthetics benefit from this finish. Aerospace components, fine art, and intricate designs are a few examples.
The Speed to Quality Relationship
In waterjet cutting, speed and quality are related!
With higher quality cuts (Q4, Q5) they require slower cutting speeds to achieve the smooth and precise finish.
Lower quality cuts (Q1, Q2) focus on speed for mass production and utility purposes.
Take into consideration the size of your project, and what you are looking to achieve.
